The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art – MoCCA is pleased to announce that the next MoCCA Art Festival will take place over April 10-11, 2010. The annual two-day event attracts thousands of comic art lovers and creators from around the globe to celebrate the world’s most popular art form in the heart of New York City.
 
Since 2002 the MoCCA Festival offers a unique venue to experience comics, mini-comics, web comics, graphic novels, animation, posters, prints, original artwork, and more. Each year, the Festival invites dozens of established and emerging creators, scholars, and other experts to participate in two days of lecture/discussion panels on a variety of comics and cartoon topics.

Exhibitors already signed for 2010 include Abrams ComicArts, ACT-I-VATE, Bear Party Collective, Buenaventura Press, Blurred Books, Candle Light Press, Comics Bakery, Drawn + Quarterly, Dumbrella, Evil Twin Comics, Fantagraphics, Pantheon, Secret Acres, Sparkplug Comics, Top Shelf, Tugboat Press and many, many more.

MoCCA Fest 2010 will again take place at the historic 69th Regiment Armory at 68 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY.

Exhibitor tables cost for the 2010 Festival are $410 ($375 for MoCCA Members) for a full table and $260 ($225 for MoCCA Members) for a half table until December 31, 2009.

After Dec. 31,  prices will be raised to $440 ($405 for members) and $275 ($240 for members) respectively. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis beginning October 21st by fax, mail, email and in person only.

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art – MoCCA is delighted to announce that comic artist DASH SHAW has designed the next MoCCA Art Festival poster and t-shirt. Dash Shaw is the creator of BodyWorld, Bottomless Belly Button and The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.D. A prolific cartoonist and animator, he lives in Brooklyn.

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art – MoCCA is happy to announce that BRIAN HEATER and JEFF NEWELT will be the Panel and Program Directors for MoCCA Art Festival 2010!

Brian Heater is the editor and founder of the alternative comics review and interview site, The Daily Cross Hatch. His writing has appeared in Spin, The Onion, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Press, The Oklahoma Gazette, The Metro Santa Cruz, Heeb, Skyscraper, Rockpile, DIW, Comic Foundry, and various other magazines and websites. He also works as a senior editor at PC Magazine.

Jeff Newelt AKA JahFurry is comics editor of SMITH, Heeb, and Royal Flush magazines. He is editor / producer of The Pekar Project on SMITH as well as Minister of Hype for the webcomix collective ACT-I-VATE. He a PR / social media consultant for clients including Paul Pope, Doug Rushkoff, DJ Spooky, Molly Crabapple, CBLDF, Rick Veitch, Larry Marder, NBM Publishing and other comics / culture / media superheroes.

MoCCA is also pleased to welcome JACK WALSH as the Festival Coordinator for 2010. Jack is a long-time volunteer for MoCCA and has many years of Festival experience under his belt. Jack was prominent at the Festival last year in his bright pink shirt and white tie, leading the team at the Festival check-in tables. He brings a passion for comics, organizational expertise and great sense of humor to the Festival.

“We are happy to bring Brian and Jeff on board our excellent team of volunteers who run the festival each year. Brian and Jeff both continue to come up with fresh and innovative ideas for this years programming.” said MoCCA Chairman and President ELLEN S. ABRAMOWITZ. “We are looking forward to announcing all of the details. Attendees are in for a real treat.”

Jeff and Brian join Jack Walsh, Emma Rivera, Liz Gorinsky and Oliver Baer as part of the Festival committee.
