In 1999 Farel Dalrymple graduated from the School of Visual Arts and published his first comic book "Smith's Adventures in the Supermundane.". The first issue of his ongoing series "Pop Gun War" was published with the help of a Xeric Grant. Absence of Ink is the current publisher of Pop Gun War. The first five issues will be collected in a trade coming out this summer from Dark Horse Comics.
In 2002 Farel was awarded a Gold medal from the Society of Illustrators for the first issue of Pop Gun War. Farel also co-founded the experimental comic anthology Meathaus, which he edited the first five issues of and continues to contribute to. In 2002 he was nominated for a Russ Manning Award. Farel has also had work appear in the Dark Horse anthology "Happy Endings", Grendel Red, White, and Black, and Spin magazine.
